ASG and Student Life

            Student Food Pantry – Collecting Donations

The student food pantry is collecting donations. We are looking for individually packaged non-perishable items for lunch bags to feed hungry students. For example, cup of noodles, cup mac and cheese, bottled water, granola bars, individually wrapped crackers, small bags of nuts, jerky and chips. Donations can be delivered to the downtown Campus ASG office in C301, South campus ASG/Vet Center B512, and Central Campus front desk.

            ASG BBQ – Wednesday, July 25, 2018

Join us July 25th 2018 from 11 AM – 1 PM for the ASG Summer BBQ. This is a student appreciation event being held on South Campus Courtyard, and is free for all students with ID, and $8 dollars for all non-students. There will be jousting, zorb balls, a dj, halal burgers, vegetarian hamburgers, hot dogs, face painting, photo booth, shaved ice, and popcorn. There will be a free shuttle for students from the Downtown Campus leaving 10:45 AM and again at11:30 AM and swinging by Central Campus shortly afterwards.  Both shuttles will head back at 1pm. Don’t miss out on all the food and fun!

            Student Clubs

Dear ASG Clubs, this is a friendly reminder that all ASG clubs will sunset after summer quarter. Clubs must be re-sanctioned annually, if a club wishes to continue for the next academic year, they must re-apply for sanctioning. Clubs are encouraged to re-apply in early July for the next academic year.

Have a 3.5+ GPA?

If you have earned 12 college level credits, with a 3.5 cumulative GPA or above, you may be eligible to join Phi Theta Kappa, the international honors society on campus.  Keep your eyes on your email for an invitation!

DSS News

Handbook connects students in need with community services

Bates Technical College’s Disability Support Services (DSS) has updated its Directory of Community Services, filled with contact information for local services that will make it easier to connect students in need to community services. The document is located on the right ‘contact us’ panel on the DSS webpage. DSS coordinator Dan Eberle says, “We publish this document because of the needs of our students. It’s important to their educational success to make sure they have all the support they need, including a convenient way to for them to seek assistance from these resources,” he says. Foundation Scholarships

The Bates Foundation will award up to 30 scholarships totaling $25,150. The application deadline is MONDAY, JULY 16, 2018 at midnight.

To assist students in the scholarship application process, the Foundation conducts scholarship workshops.
