ACCUPLACER is the new COMPASS
Beginning on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016, the testing center will offer a new testing platform as part of the enrollment process, the ACCUPLACER, which will replace the COMPASS test.

The ACCUPLACER is a suite of tests that assesses reading, writing, math and computer skills, and offers interactive learning tools to help test-takers prepare.

According to LuLani Tomaszewski, the college’s manager/chief examiner in the testing center, “The COMPASS is no longer continuing their services, so the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges left it up to each institution to decide what type of testing platform best meets their institution needs. And with collaboration from our instructional services, staff and faculty, we decided to move forward with replacing COMPASS with ACCUPLACER,” said Tomaszewski.

The last day for COMPASS testing will be on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016. COMPASS scores taken before Nov. 30 will be valid up to two years.

The testing center has 20 free demo units to allow faculty and staff to take the exam and learn more about the new testing platform.
