The Tacoma-Pierce County Housing Justice Project is on campus Thursday, March 26 from 1:00 to 5:30pm in the Downtown Campus auditorium. Get information on Fair Housing and Landlord-Tenant laws, then at 3:00pm sign up ahead or walk in for free one-on-one legal advice from an attorney about your housing issue. THIS WEEK: Anime Alliance Club
Join us The Bates Anime Alliance March 27 in the MZ 136 at the downtown campus from 2:00-3:00pm as we explore the mythology and folklore of japan that can be found in many anime and manga. We will also be discussing some of its many representations in said media so join us and animate your life today. +
Student Graduates – Commencement 2015 Applications Available
The college’s 2015 Commencement Ceremony is Thursday, May 28 at 6 p.m. in the Tacoma Dome Exhibition Hall. Please note, students who plan to walk in the ceremony need to complete the commencement registration; go to http://www.bates.ctc.edu/commencement for the form and additional commencement information. Copies of the registration (and credential application) form are available the Downtown Registration Office (M210); Central Campus Front Desk; South Campus, Student Services Center (A115); or in the Diversity Center. The fee for applying to walk is $22.50 prior to April 15. The fee after this date is $35.50. (The fee does not include cap and gown.) Apply early to ensure your name is included in the commencement program.
Are you a Veteran graduate who will be walking in the Bates’ Commencement Ceremony on May 28th? Would you like to be recognized for your military service with the presentation of a Bates Challenge Coin? If your answer is “yes” to both of these questions, please remember to “check the box” at the bottom of your yellow “Commencement Registration Form” indicating the branch of the military service, turn it in no later than April 30th and you will be honored with a coin at commencement to thank you for your service and congratulate you as a Veteran graduate!
Hands on Confidence Club
Attention!!! Current Hands On Confidence, club members and interested parties. Self-defense classes will be offered from 3:30pm to 4:30pm Tues. and Thurs. starting spring quarter. Based on interest and participation I will consider adding classes on Mon. & Wed. as well. Educational Scholarships for Women
The Washington State Business and Professional Women’s (WSBPW) Foundation is offering several different scholarships (from $500 to $1,000) for women. Eligibility requirements include: woman student and a U.S. citizen; meet age requirements for specific scholarship; accepted into a program at an accredited school in WA state; demonstrate scholastic ability; and be in need of financial assistance. The WSBPW scholarship packet may be received by contacting email@example.com please use “scholarship” in subject line. Or request one from Kat in the diversity center. Electrical Generating Systems Association (EGSA) Scholarship
The David I. Coren Memorial Scholarship program is for students enrolled full-time in the power generation industry for the 2015-2016 academic year. Up to eight scholarships will be awarded in the amount of 2,500. Deadline is May 1, 2015. Students applying for a scholarship for the first time can click here to download a copy of the Application. The Washington State Department of Transportation has a new pooling job posting for the following position: Maintenance Technician 2 In-Training. The posting will be up until 6/30/15 for candidates to apply. WSDOT will pull from the candidate pool as the maintenance technicians positions become available based on what the candidates complete as their areas of interest. For questions call 206-440-4028.
