Just about everybody involved in public education is calling the shortage of qualified teachers, a “crisis.”

How did we get to this point? How might it be resolved in the future? Washington state’s teacher shortage is the topic of this edition of KBTC’s Northwest Now.

We’ll hear from Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction Superintendent Randy Dorn, Washington Education Association President Kim Mead, and Lisa Nolan, head of recruiting teachers for the Tacoma Public School District.

The Emmy and Telly Award-winning public affairs series Northwest Now airs Fridays at 7:30 p.m. on KBTC Public Television, a service of Bates Technical College.
