On the 7th anniversary of the murder of four Lakewood Police Officers in a coffee shop, violence against police officers seems to continue. Nationwide, there have been several senseless attacks on officers, where they are suddenly ambushed and killed.

On Friday’s Northwest Now, host Tom Layson takes a closer look at police officer safety, and what’s being done to protect those whose job it is to protect us. We’ll hear from Pierce County Sheriff Paul Pastor, Lakewood Police Chief Mike Zaro, and Pierce County Sheriff Detective and Public Information Officer Ed Troyer.

“We should be outraged when law enforcement officers are murdered, when they’re attacked–that should be felt as an attack on all of us,” Sheriff Paul Pastor told  Layson.

The Emmy and Telly Award-winning public affairs series Northwest Now airs Fridays at 7:30 p.m. on KBTC Public Television, a service of Bates Technical College.
